Are you interested in joining a Community Scrutiny Panel?

Dear Resident,

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner are looking for new volunteers to join their Community Scrutiny Panel.

What is a Community Scrutiny Panel?

This is made up of local volunteers aged 16+ who share a desire to build trust and confidence between communities and the police across the county.

The panel review body worn footage and police records in order to provide independent feedback to the constabulary.

The panel is set up to scrutinise three areas:

Custody – to ensure detainees are treated fairly and equally through the review of body worn video and custody records

Use of force – to review incidents to ensure that the use of force was fair and proportionate

Stop and search – to make sure that the detainee is treated fairly and with respect, and officers act in line with strict protocols and codes of behaviour

The panel meet once a month, rotating between in person at Cambridgeshire Constabulary Headquarters in Huntingdon, and online.

No prior experience is needed as full training will be provided.
